Honoring Earth Everyday

Happy Earth Day!

At Cymbiotika, we honor and celebrate Mother Earth everyday, but today is especially important because it’s the one day out of the year that our planet gets the recognition it deserves.

This magical place that we call home provides everything we need to survive such as water to drink, air to breathe, soil to grow food in, materials to build shelter from, and much more. Although many people may feel separate from nature, it’s important to remember that we ARE a part of nature. With this awareness, our role here comes with an important responsibility to honor and respect these lands so we can continue thriving as a species, while also protecting all other living beings so we can coexist in harmony with one another.

Although we are all just individual people going about our lives, we CAN make impactful changes for our planet as a collective by practicing mindfulness around every decision we make.

With this intention in mind, we would love to share some of our favorite ways to honor and protect our planet so we can thrive on it for thousands of years to come. We hope these help guide you on your journey and inspire you to continue making small changes throughout your life to better serve yourself, others, and our home!

Tips for living a more earth-conscious lifestyle:

Reduce Waste: opt for reusable grocery bags, try to avoid processed foods that come in plastic packaging, drink from a reusable water bottle, invest in some bamboo travel utensils for when you are eating meals on the go, etc.

Compost: When waste/trash gets sent to a landfill, even things that can decompose, it often lies stagnant in these sites and oxygen is not able to reach it to begin the natural decaying process. So, instead of throwing away your food scraps, coffee grinds, weeds from your garden, cardboard boxes, etc… it is much more environmentally friendly to learn about and implement composting methods to create healthy soil out of these materials. Not only will this help produce nutrient dense food from your garden, but it also gives back to the Earth in numerous ways!

Vote Responsibly With Your Dollar: Every purchase we make determines the health of our planet (and ourselves!). We love supporting local/small businesses whenever we can, and especially those who are using eco-friendly products, packaging, and methods for their creations.

Support Local Farmers: The rise of toxic substances being sprayed on crops such as pesticides, fungicides, insecticides, etc. are polluting our air, water, soil and in turn, our own bodies as well. Since it’s hard to receive full transparency about these things when buying food in a store, we always love visiting local farms/markets to buy our food because we can have more certainty around the practices that were used during the growing processes. And with this, we always recommend opting for organic products whenever possible!

Avoid Toxic Self-Care/Home Products: Many products such as cleaning agents, detergents, soaps, make-up, shampoos, lotions, candles, etc. have harmful chemicals that are not biodegradable and therefore, get washed into rivers, streams, and our oceans, oftentimes harming wildlife and disrupting ecosystems around the world. Always look at your labels before buying products such as these and when possible, make your own at home!

Skip Fast Fashion & Thrift Your Clothes: The fashion industry produces 10% of all humanity’s carbon emissions and is the second-largest consumer of the world’s water supply. Plus, many clothes are made from synthetic materials and when washed, thrown out, etc., they can emit tons of micro-plastics into our environment/oceans. We always opt for thrifting clothes or supporting companies who are sourcing high quality materials and producing them in an ethical way.

There are many more ways to contribute to a healthier planet, but we will leave you with these today :) Please share this post with your friends & family to pass on this valuable information!

With love and gratitude,

The Cymbiotika Team
