With 2021 right around the corner, we’d love to share some of our favorite tips for optimizing our health and reaching the goals we are setting for ourselves for the new year. Many people tend to put a lot of pressure on themselves when it comes to New Year’s resolutions, so we hope these tips help guide you through this process in an easeful way :)
- Make sure you are getting adequate sleep every night- 7-9 hours if possible, stay hydrated with mineral rich water (especially 30 minutes before meals!), try to get outside everyday and ground in the earth/sun gaze (helps with circadian rhythm), and find a mindful practice that works for you to minimize stress- like breathwork, meditation, prayer, etc. To really enhance these practices, consider adding more magnesium to your diet which will help balance your moods and bring about greater calm. Our Liposomal Magnesium L-Threonate product is a great way to easily incorporate nutritional magnesium as its Micelle technology allows for maximum absorption within the body.
- Be realistic with your goals-- i.e, if you are trying to quit sugar completely but you currently consume it everyday, you will need time to adjust to this new goal because your body and brain are literally addicted to it (this pretty much goes for any addiction!). Start by donating or throwing out any items you have in your pantry such as processed sugar, flour, bread, soda, artificial sweeteners, and lab-made “snacks”. After this, you can start to incorporate whole foods such as berries, fruits, and honey into your diet in small amounts when/if you begin to crave sugar. Our team loves Orange Cream Coconut Macaroons, featuring Synergy Vitamin C for enhanced nutrients, that make a great snack that will sate your craving for something sweet. Opt for a diet high in healthy fats and high-quality proteins such as avocados, olives, sprouted nuts/seeds, and pasture-raised eggs/meat (if not vegan) to help your body adjust to this major change. You will thank yourself later!
- Use a calendar or planner to map out your days for things such as exercise routines, meal planning, grocery trips and rest days. When we write things down, we are more likely to actually follow through with our plans. Have days with vigorous activities (running, HIIT, sprinting) & days of slower movement (yoga, walking) and then pair those days with your meal plans accordingly. On days you are exerting more calories, make sure you fuel yourself properly with whole foods! Give your 100% as much as possible and know that creating new habits takes TIME! One small slip up doesn’t ruin everything… so keep going even if this happens!
- Know the why behind your intentions/goals and tell other people about them! When we have others to help keep us on track, it creates greater accountability.
We hope this helps you stay on track with your health goals for the New Year! Start off slow and gradually work your way up towards your goals. No one is perfect, so be gentle with yourself as you are moving through these transitions & transformations.
With love and gratitude,
The Cymbiotika Team
